first of all sorry for not speaking your leanguage, i hope you will forgive me
I just bought a pair of incomplete Tesla AKR-303 theatre speakers which i want to rebuild. I have 4 Tesla ARO-942 with crossovers and tweeters but i miss both midrange panels.

my question is: do you know any substitute to Tesla ARE667 ? I think there are still some speakers in production, i found one that seems to be exact the same,here:

every parameter is the same,i only don´t know the how efficient they are,but probably same. I need 12 of them,so it won´t be easy to find originals. My appeal for you folks: if any of you can help me to get some of these,please let me know. My plan is to build the AKR-303 in "home version" meens, not sooooo tall as original,but similar. Smaller bass reflex enclosure, the rest as original as can be. Would be great to get some help since it´s almost impossible to find it here where i live (Germany ans Poland).

I also plan to upgrade the original crossover with some russian paper-in-oli NOS capacitors.

you have a "superspeakers"
ARE667 are as same as ARO667, one different is only stuff, a bit sound... You can change it for ARO6604 http://repromania.net/tesla/tesla-sirok ... o-6604.php
They can used in speakers for decentralzed sound (in bank, school, hospital, etc...) and can be very good for midrange. This seller have a many pieces of this speakers http://www.aukro.cz/item514772379_repro ... p_ted.html
and for a super price.
On the home version of this speaers can be verz good to use small speaker which can play in 4-8kHz. Because ARO has a directionable and ART has a disortion and poor efficiency. This combination must be measured, simulated and tunned "vexl" (i dont know výhybka, vexel, wechsel in english) for best sound.
Measure the TS parameters and simulate the box. Its not good have smaller box than original AKR. Tunning frequency bassreflex must be measured and tunned to confirm with simulation.

thanks for your post, i will check the speakers you ment. I think the mid range in AKR-303 starts at 1200Hz, i´m pretty sure of that. You think it will work wit 6604? What is the price? 100kr for one piece??I need 12....

i have also noticed a slight differenc in efficiency between 6604 and 667. 95 vs 93 db so they are a little bit to loud..

100kč is cca 3,9 Euro... 12ks is cca 46,8 Euro. Plus post...
1200Hz crossover between bass and mid is good. Midrange speakers can be less disortion...
We maybe can be have some ARE667 from friends, need some time

really appreciate your help. As to 6604 i´m affraid that they are to loud. But maybe i´ll think about it. Of course original 667 would be THE OPTION can´t wait to have them complete. The guy that sold me the Teslas, forgot to attach the tweeters so i have to run after it...anyway i will inform my you about the process of building and listening impressions.

I was albo thinking about keeping the original bass reflex volume, and just change the shape. Not so tall, but deeper and smaller. Volume about 450 l

Hm, 6604 can be better sound (not too paper coloured) than 667. And sensitivity isnt higher. Whz you are afraid? 450L and original tuning frequencz of bassreflex is OK. Shape isnt have a influence...

i thougt there was some difference....anyway i don´t have any account on aukro.cz i think i have to call the seller. Could be an option untill LuKyss organises the rest

Well, that´s the point...i love vintage gear, it´s just wonderfull. I have other speakers like altec, saba, isophon, goodmans. For me the best sounding gear is old paper cone, high efficiency stuff. I don´t like modern audio. I´ve been there, done that...never again. Plastic and aluminium drivers with low efficiency sound like piece of shit. These AKR-303 are well known by asian audiophiles that love them as well as Klangfilm. I hope i´ll get them run, imagine, there are probably not many of them still playing around. Audio is one great hobby and fun and i will treat these speakers this way

i was always wondering about people´s hobbies and obsessions. You can practically find a website and forum about EVERY kind of thing. Audio is full of freaks that like tubes, old radios, big horns, digital devices, record decks, big ass american theater speakers etc etc...unbelievable is the amount of websites. I think Tesla theater speakers are really rar. Probably better known worldwide than in former Czechoslovakia...at least i know a couple of guys that love them

I got my tweeters al last, so i´m only missing the midrange section. I´m thinking about buying that quad of tesla 6604 from aukro. Who can help me?? I want to buy all of them just to check if you were right and listen to it until i get the 667 Of course i will transfer money first, please let me know if one of you can do it. i´m going to Praha this weekend (on the way to Austria). My Aro942s and crossovers looking forvard to meet the rest of the family
Anyway i think of build an line array with six midrange speakers (6604 or whatever) and use it in an open baffle, bass in BR just like AKR-303.

Jsem trochu zmatený, dostalo získal jsem další kinobedny tentokrát AKR303, jenže na štítku a to u obou mají ARS 6803 a zatížitelnost 150VA. Zatím jsem se do nich nekoukal ale osazení vypadá standardně materiál dřevotříska na basovce ( bohužel ).

To je velmi zvláštní, s tím jsem se ještě nesetkal, no jsem zvědav zda uvnitř bude něco jiného než ARO942 co jsou běžné.

Takže klasický AKR303, jen teda nechápu to označení na štítku.
